Children of God: Schools

On June 7th, we had the opportunity to help give out humanitarian donations to 2 different schools in the bush (very rural areas) outside of Harare. We drove about 45 minutes on dirt roads to arrive. There were over 400+ K-7th grade students in each school with about 15 teachers. The children all lined up and sang us some beautiful songs. The African songs are about how great God is and how blessed they are. God is still in the public government schools, unlike how America has turned godless. Most schools and companies still start with prayer. The children are so meek and humble; each child did a quick bow or hand clap to thank us for the small donations. Each child received a baseball cap, candy, a toy wooden car, a t-shirt, and shorts. We also gave the teachers shirts, dresses, caps, and toy cars for their children too. They were so grateful for the new clothes and gifts. It was like Christmas in June for them. I loved looking into the children's beautiful eyes and smiles. Truly this experience was so beautiful; it was beyond description. This was so REAL and puts everything in perspective. We have so much in America; but, these people are so happy with nothing. Not really nothing, only in comparison to material possessions. They love their families, are happy, and love God. That seems to be enough!

Sister Tondi King, lead the children in Primary songs, like "Head, shoulder, knees, and toes" and "If you're happy and you know it". The kids loved doing the hand gestures and learning something new. They sang beautiful songs in Shona thanking God for their blessings. Reeve Nield and Laurite Maritz, have over 20 metal containers, like cargo freight, on their property that are full of humanitarian donations, mainly from Utah. She runs "Eyes for Zimbabwe" and other charities. She plans the visits and has the missionaries come help distribute.

I loved these school teachers and cooks. They were so grateful for the small donations they were able to receive also. The headmaster told us some of the children walk 5-7 kg. each way to and from school each day. They were really excited to get about 5 soccer balls for the children. I've seen children playing soccer in the streets with a ball made out of plastic garbage sacks.

A very rewarding day!  These are beautiful children of God! I'm happy to play "Go-Go" grandma to them.
