How many people can you pack in a combi? This time "39" youth, we counted! Seat belts not required at least not used in Zim! We helped with a wonderful Youth Conference on "Called to Serve". I was asked to make the programs and help set up. Zimbabwe youth are taught the desire to serve full-time missions at an early age. They learned from our mission leaders, Pres. & Sister Judd, on Saturday along with others in the stake. Sister Turley talked on "English Connect" and Sister Mary Machakahire also spoke. It was a successful day for beautiful young men and women. Lolly serves as the Stake Young Women's President and does an amazing job at inspiring the youth. We love life and our mission to serve in Zim!
We arrived at 07:30 a.m. to the Lewiston Primary School on Saturday morning, August 5th. It was exciting to see busloads of youth anxiously arriving to learn more about how to be future missionaries. Lolly, who is the stake YW Pres., had totes full of donations such as shorts and caps, gave them English connect books, the general conference Liahona, and 10 Books of Mormon each to give out to their friends. They provided a hot dog, orange, and cookies. Many of these youth live in very humble and poor communities. They are so happy to come on a Saturday and spend the day with like-minded youth. Reeve asked me to take photos and loaned me her very nice professional camera. I went around and snapped hundreds of candid and poses. Needless to say, I was in my element of my "dream" profession as a photographer. It was very fun. We left after the program started to enjoy our preparation day. We had been without power for about 4 days and had a lot of wash to take care of.
